Haileybury Rendall School is a company limited by guarantee, with one sole member which is Haileybury. The Directors are appointed to the Board by Haileybury and appoint the Principal who is responsible for the management of the School. Haileybury Rendall School is a not-for-profit organisation. Its accounts are independently audited.

Mr Tom Poulton LLB (Hons)

Mr Poulton was educated at Haileybury College, Brighton. He has retired from a career as a solicitor specialising in corporate and commercial law, banking and finance law and the law of resource development.

Mr Poulton was Managing Partner (CEO) of Allens Arthur Robinson (now known as Allens) for over 10 years.

Mr Derek Scott Dip Ed (Mon), BA (Politics) (Auckland), M Ed Mgt (Melb)

Mr Scott has been CEO/Principal of Haileybury since 2008.

As CEO/Principal Derek has overseen Haileybury’s exceptional growth and strong academic performance. He developed Haileybury City (Melbourne’s first vertical school) and launched Haileybury Pangea, Victoria’s first private online school. In 2017 Derek oversaw the acquisition of Kormilda College by Haileybury Melbourne and the subsequent opening of Haileybury Rendall School.

Derek is the Chair of the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority which is responsible for NAPLAN and the national curriculum.

In 2019 he was awarded Australian Principal of the Year at the Australian Education Awards.


Mr Simon Terry LLB (Hons) B.Com (Hons)
Elected 2018

Mr Terry is a former student of Haileybury College, Brighton and Keysborough and through his career, he has held a variety of senior management positions in the finance, e-commerce, consumer goods and media industries.

Mr Terry is currently Chairman of Change Agents Worldwide and Head of Markets for Lantern Pay, a Health, disability, aged care and insurance payments platform.


Haileybury School Councillor Dr Pauline Turner

Dr Pauline Turner BA (Hons), PhD, Hon DUniv, AmusA

Dr Turner is a former Principal of The Geelong College which she held for 17 years as well as a member of Deakin University Council for almost 15 years (eight as Deputy Chancellor).

Dr Turner served as a board member of Marcus Oldham Farm Management College for 10 years until 2006.


Mr Mark Spain
Elected 2018 BEc (Mon), LLB(Hons) (Mon)

Mr Spain was appointed to the Board of Kormilda College in February 2017 to assist the Board to identify and implement solutions for the continuation of the College. Mark assisted with the acquisition and transition of the College to Haileybury Rendall School and has continued as a member of the new Board. Mark has lived and worked as a lawyer in Darwin since 2000.

He and his wife Sue have had two children educated at Haileybury Rendall School, Sally who graduated in 2020, and Nelson who is currently in Year 11.
