Middle School news

Haileybury Rendall School’s House competition is a significant component of our identity. Students, staff and even families exercise their competitive spirit to see their House raise the cup at Speech Night each year.

We have another packed calendar for 2024, expertly led by our new team of Heads of House:

  • Baru – Mr Matthew Douglas
  • Djarrak – Ms Anna Staib
  • Nganabaru - Ms Brianna Witte
  • Pumarali – Ms Jessica Vo

The first event for the 2024 academic year was completed at the end of last year, with Djarrak taking out House Swimming.

House Singing has now moved to Term 1 and all four Houses have begun rehearsals in preparation for the main event on Wednesday, 27 March. The theme this year is ‘Disney’, and each House will be performing songs from:

  • Baru – Moana
  • Djarrak – Cars
  • Nganabaru – The Lion King
  • Pumarali – Frozen

We wish all the best to each of our Houses and look forward to seeing the quality of competition ramp up in 2024.

French cultural presentations

The Year 7 French language students recently enjoyed their first ‘fete’ presentation. They presented a cultural icon from France, and lucky for us, most students chose to research delicious French food.

We enjoyed croissants, éclairs, pain au chocolatés, crêpes and macarons. The students did a wonderful job at presenting their chosen cultural icon.

Creating Community and Connection

Year 7 Connection Day emphasised the importance of relationships and interpersonal connections. The day was dedicated to strengthening existing bonds, forging new connections and fostering a sense of unity and belonging among the Year 7 community.

It was a wonderful day with students participating in a range of activities including; newspaper fashion show, egg drop, trivia and an afternoon of sport. The House spirit, teamwork and enthusiasm shown by all students throughout the day was great to see.

A big shout out to the Middle School Leaders who showed initiative and community spirit whilst supporting the Year 7 students.
