Leading the Clontarf Way

The 2024 All-Clontarf Year 12 Leadership Camp commenced in Week 4, drawing around 40 Academy Members from various Academies including Katherine, Nhulunbuy, Casuarina Senior College, Taminmin College, Palmerston Senior College & Haileybury Rendall School.

The camp is a vital part of our senior’s program and is a kick-start to their Year 12 journey. It provides Academy Members with a sense of agency and the opportunity to see that they are a part of a bigger picture, with others who are in a similar position. As they enter their most important year of schooling, this camp provides Academy Members with the reassurance, confidence and guidance that we are all in this together.

The camp began with a Year 12 dinner at Dripstone Cliffs on Sunday evening, setting the tone for the official breakfast the next morning at The H – Hotel on Mitchell. The breakfast was well attended by Clontarf Year 12's and staff, as well as several Clontarf partners, Government and Education Department representatives. Rahiri Bedggood, who emceed last year’s HRS Clontarf Awards Night, was the MC of the morning and was again impressive.

The group then attended the Bombing of Darwin Ceremony at the Darwin Convention Centre. They learnt about the significant impacts this attack had on the city of Darwin, and Australia as a whole. An important community event showcasing our Academy Members and exposing them to another great experience. The camp continued its way to Batchelor. Here, the group participated in employment sessions led by our Employment Officers, Phillip Wills & Anthony Vallejo. Elements of fun were also included with activities in the afternoon, followed by a home-cooked dinner.

The final day started with morning training and a traditional Clontarf BBQ breakfast. We finished with pre-planning for the Year 12 major end of year trips and plenty of smiling faces.
