In the lead-up to Anzac Day, each classroom took time to discuss the importance of this national occasion. Through age-appropriate conversations, our educators helped the children understand the ideas of bravery, sacrifice and remembering those who have served our country. The students showed great care and thoughtfulness as they created their own class wreaths, using a variety of materials and their own artistic flair. These beautiful wreaths became a central part of our informal Anzac ceremony. All ELC students and staff gathered at the school flagpole for this special ceremony. Together, they respectfully laid their class wreaths and observed a minute’s silence, honouring the spirit of Anzac and reflecting quietly as a community. Watching even our youngest students stand together in respect was a moving experience for all involved. |
Our celebrations continued with a heartfelt focus on the mothers, grandmothers and special women in our ELC community. The children spent time preparing songs and talking about the important role their mothers and caregivers play in their lives. Their performances included three cheerful songs that brought smiles to everyone’s faces. This was followed by a touching farewell song for Ms Mau, our much-loved music teacher, who has been part of the ELC for four years. Ms Mau has shared her passion for music with enthusiasm and warmth, and her presence will be dearly missed by children, families, and staff alike.
After the performances, families gathered for a delicious afternoon tea, enjoying a chance to connect and celebrate together. The fun continued with a variety of family-friendly activities, including a photo booth for capturing happy memories, a station for making edible jewellery, and a pamper station where children could indulge in a little relaxation and care. There were also games set up for everyone to enjoy, as well as a cosy book corner and a range of arts and crafts activities that encouraged creativity and imagination.
It was a truly wonderful afternoon, filled with joy, gratitude, and a strong sense of community spirit. Thank you to all the families and staff who contributed to these events and helped make them such special experiences for our ELC children.
