Celebrating Connection, Creativity and Community
It has been a busy and memorable time across our Early Learning community, with so many special moments of connection, creativity and celebration.
One of the recent highlights was our incredible Garden Party at the ELC, where we had the joy of welcoming grandparents from near and far. The event was a true celebration of family and community, with guests enjoying a delicious high tea, freshly brewed coffee, refreshing iced tea and plenty of photo opportunities. Our beautifully decorated garden created the perfect setting, with everyone dining outdoors surrounded by natural beauty, laughter and conversation. Having our older family members join us was incredibly special, and it was heartwarming to see the children sharing smiles, stories and special moments with their grandparents. These occasions are always so valued and remind us of the important role family and intergenerational connections play in the lives of our children.
We have also wrapped up an amazing holiday program, filled with fun, adventure and exciting learning experiences. One of the standout excursions was our visit to Territory Wildlife Park, where the children had the opportunity to walk, explore, ride the bus and they discovered some of our incredible native wildlife. There was a real sense of excitement throughout the day, with the bus trip itself becoming a particular highlight for many of the children. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm, curiosity and enjoyment as they experienced the park together.
Our children have also been proudly representing us in the wider community. Our Reception students were successful with their creative entry into the Darwin Show Scarecrow Competition, creating a remarkable masterpiece that earned several awards, including the outstanding title of Overall Junior Champion. Visiting the Darwin Show was another exciting experience, with students enjoying the animals, community stands, plants and exhibits, as well as the thrill of watching the fast cars racing around the oval. These opportunities not only celebrate the creativity and talents of our students but also help them engage with and feel part of the broader community.
Another beautiful initiative has been the connection our preschoolers have begun with a lovely group of elderly community members at Cornerstone Café. Each fortnight, in small groups, the children visit to play board games, share morning tea and assist with shopping. This has been such a meaningful collaboration, and it has been wonderful to watch these relationships begin to grow. Both the children and the elderly community members gain so much from these visits, and it is lovely to see the joy, confidence and sense of belonging that comes from these shared experiences.
We were also proud to support Shave for a Cure through a whole-school fundraising event, raising over $360 for this important cause. Students enjoyed a range of fun activities including tattoos, colourful hair spray, cupcakes and party pies, while families also showed their support by purchasing raffle tickets for a cash prize. We are always so grateful for the generosity of our families and their willingness to support initiatives that make a difference.
It has been a period full of celebration, connection and community. We are so grateful for the many opportunities our children have had to learn, participate and shine, and we look forward to many more special moments still to come.
