NAPLAN and Pi Day: Celebrating Numeracy and Achievement

This term, our students have excelled in both national assessments and our school’s celebration of mathematics.

Students in Years 3, 5, 7, and 9 have now completed NAPLAN, the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy. This important milestone allows students to demonstrate their progress in key areas, especially numeracy, which is vital for lifelong learning. Well done to our Year 3 students for completing their first ever NAPLAN - what an impressive achievement! Also, a special congratulations to our Year 7 students for successfully completing their first NAPLAN through our Middle School. Your resilience and positive attitude throughout the assessments have made us all proud. Thank you to our staff and families who have been there every step of the way, supporting our students to feel confident and prepared.

In keeping with our focus on numeracy, our school recently celebrated Pi Day with a vibrant range of activities. Students enjoyed a fun trivia contest and took on the challenge of reciting the digits of π (pi). Congratulations to Emily in Year 11, who amazed everyone by reciting an extraordinary 154 decimal places, and to Lydia, who reached an impressive 117 digits. Our trivia champions—Aidan (Year 11), Molly (Year 11), Ashlee (Year 12), and Mia (Year 12)—scored a perfect 10 out of 10. Special thanks to our academic prefects, Chloe and Stuart (both Year 12), for their wonderful support in making the event a success.

Both NAPLAN and Pi Day highlight the significance of numeracy in education, encouraging critical thinking and problem-solving across all year levels.

Congratulations to all our students for their achievements, enthusiasm, and commitment to learning.
