Middle School news

It is with great pleasure I welcome back our Middle School students and families. In particular, it is wonderful to welcome our new and Year 7 students to the School. I extend a thank you to all the classroom buddies who have supported our new students.

Students have been working with tutors and teachers to learn the processes of the Middle School, including locker use, managing homework, orientation and being ready to learn.

Our Year Level Coordinators play an important role in our students’ school lives. They are pivotal in supporting students with their learning growth and wellbeing, communicating with families, and providing support to teaching staff. In 2024, the team consists of Ms Sophie Carter - Year 7 Coordinator, Ms Rebecca Thomas - Year 8 Coordinator and Mr Nick Eddy -Year 9 Coordinator & Deputy Head of Middle School. Families are encouraged to build connections with these staff members so they can best understand their student’s needs.

Thank you to those who attended the recent Middle School Information Evening. The evening outlined important information regarding the learning, wellbeing and logistics of Middle School at HRS. I trust that those who attended got plenty out of it. The slides and a recording from the night are now available on myHRS for future reference.

Recycling HRS

Led passionately by students, the HRS Eco-Committee has been working hard to push a sustainability agenda within the School. The Eco-Committee put together an action plan, addressing matter of waste, energy and biodiversity; this included researching and recommending native plant species around the School.

The most recent project for the Eco-Committee is the implementation of a paper recycling project. Soon, all classrooms and offices will have an efficient paper recycling system to ensure our waste streams are managed more sustainably.
