NEWS 31 May 2023

Haileybury Rendall School (HRS) proudly sits on Larrakia country and from the moment students arrive at the school, they embark on an educational journey that leaves a powerful and lasting impression.

Almost 900 young people from the Top End are part of the HRS community and the school offers each of them a quality education, both inside and outside the classroom through brilliant teaching and a broad range of experiences and subject choices.

“We have an unwavering commitment to helping our students develop the life skills that are essential for living and working successfully.”
Andrew McGregor, Principal of HRS

“As well as focusing on academic excellence, the growth and wellbeing of our students is also at the forefront of everything we do. By the time students leave our school, we want them to be excited and prepared for the challenges and opportunities that await them.”

In ELC, our focus is on encouraging young minds to be curious, to question and to discover individual interests. This continues through the Junior and Middle Schools.

“Our Junior School program helps students understand, master and apply core skills and concepts while our Middle School students continue to develop their knowledge and skills through a varied curriculum. Our classes also recognise the different social, emotional and educational needs of girls and boys at this stage of their development,” says Andrew.

The latest NAPLAN results ranked us as a top Primary School in the Northern Territory for the second year running. We also ranked in the top three Senior Schools in the NT. Importantly, we are proud that our NAPLAN results include all our remote and very remote students who continue to perform way above the national NAPLAN average.

In the Senior School years, students complete the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and HRS also offers vocational education VET and VCAL subjects – from Hospitality and Allied Health to Media and Musical Digital Production.

Classroom learning is carefully balanced with sporting and co-curricular activities – from performing arts, drama, music, swimming, basketball, athletics and netball to clubs and competitions that test mathematical, scientific, writing, spelling and entrepreneurial talents.

Along the way, children and young people, develop resilience, creativity, communication, collaboration and critical thinking – all vitally important skills for now and for their future studies and careers.

“We are very proud of the school that we have created,” says Andrew.

““Haileybury Rendall School brings together the very best elements of contemporary global education in a welcoming and inclusive school that supports students to be the very best version of themselves.””
Andrew McGregor, Principal of HRS

There’s a lot happening at HRS. We look forward to sharing more stories about our school, our students and the teachers and staff who make HRS a very special place.
