In Week 8, Middle School students took part in the Digital Thumbprint workshops, an engaging and interactive program designed to help them thrive in the online world.
Year 7 students explored what it means to build respectful relationships online. Through thought-provoking scenarios, they considered the impact of their words and actions, and discussed important topics such as consent, image-based abuse, and the influence of Artificial Intelligence. Many students reflected on how they can use their voices and choices to create safer spaces for themselves and their peers.
Year 8 students learned practical ways to stay safe from hackers, scammers, and impersonators who target young people through gaming and social media. By practising digital defence strategies, they discovered how small, smart moves can make a big difference.
In Year 9, students had the opportunity to experiment with GenAI applications, gaining new ideas for creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking. At the same time, they developed strategies to protect themselves from the risks of misuse.
The workshops provided timely, practical insights to empower our students to make wise choices in their digital lives.
The Middle School student leadership process for 2026 is underway. Year 8 students have been nominated, and voting has taken place during Week 10. Students will be shortlisted and interviews will occur in early Term 4. Thank you to all students who showed courage by self-nominating.
We look forward to seeing the impact of our student leaders and the amplification of all student voices in 2026.

As we come to the end of a long and busy term, I would like to acknowledge the many achievements of our Senior School students.
Our Unit 3/4 students recently completed their trial examinations in preparation for the final VCAA exams in Term 4. These exams are an important step in refining study strategies, identifying areas for improvement, and building confidence ahead of the final assessments. We commend our Year 12 students for the commitment and focus they continue to show.
On the sporting field, our Senior Boys Football team had a remarkable season, going undefeated all year and making it through to the Grand Final. Although the result did not go their way on the day, the team played with great spirit and determination. A special congratulations goes to Sonny (Year 11), who was awarded Best on Ground for the final.
The Senior School Musical, The Addams Family, came to life on stage after months of hard work and rehearsals. The Friday and Saturday evening performances were truly outstanding, showcasing the talent, creativity, and teamwork of both the cast and crew. Congratulations to all students and staff involved for bringing such a professional and entertaining production to our community.
This week also saw the rescheduled World’s Greatest Shave event, led by Social Justice Prefect Oliver (Year 12). The lunchtime fundraiser featured novelty events, hair shaving, colouring, and a sausage sizzle, raising valuable funds for the Leukemia Foundation.
I wish all families a safe and restful holiday. Best of luck to our Year 12 students as they continue preparing for their final exams in Term 4.

Year 12 This year, the Haileybury Rendal School library is proud to host an Art Exhibition that presents artworks from the VCE Art Making & Exhibiting Unit 3 & 4 class, showcasing the students’ creativity, skill, and dedication that have been developed over their final year of study. From canvas and watercolour paintings, printmaking, drawing, and soft sculptures with mixed media, their work reveals ideas of personal journeys, responding to the natural world and cultural references. You can read about their ideas and cultural connections on the didactic boards that are presented next to their artworks.
Also on display is a collection of completed artworks created by the Year 10 Art class with Ceramic and Photographic techniques. Emphasis on developing technical skills, their work also highlights the critical and conceptual thinking that underpins contemporary artmaking. On display are architectural black and white photography, cyanotype sun prints, ceramic forms using slab and underglaze techniques, and acrylic painting designs. Next term… Look out for the next exhibition – Year 10 Art self-portrait drawings, and watercolour landscapes, with Year 7 ceramics.

Year 11 Indigenous students had the opportunity to visit Charles Darwin University (CDU) this term for an engaging and informative tour. The day allowed students to explore the wide range of pathways available to them, with a strong focus on future study and career opportunities. They were introduced to various VET courses and programs, giving them valuable insight into the skills and qualifications they could pursue after school. The experience was both inspiring and practical, helping students consider their next steps—a big thank you to CDU for hosting our students and providing such a valuable learning experience.

This term has been full of energy, competition, and House spirit as our Middle and Senior School students embraced a range of House events. The highlight of the term was, without doubt, our very first Cross Country at East Point. With Darwin giving us a spectacular dry season morning, the event was a wonderful showcase of endurance, teamwork, and sportsmanship. It was fantastic to see so many students giving it their best, with some brilliant performances from our runners.
Throughout the term, the House Netball Competition kept everyone on the edge of their seats. After some hard-fought games, Pumarali managed to snatch the premiership cup from the previously undefeated Baru Crocs—a huge achievement and a reminder of just how competitive our House spirit can be!
In NAIDOC Week, House points were up for grabs in a lively House Dodgeball event. With incredible participation from both students and staff, the atmosphere in the Quad during recess and lunch was electric. It was a fun, inclusive way to celebrate community and culture, with plenty of laughs along the way.
To round out the term, House Chess in Week 10 will put a spotlight on our strategic thinkers and talented chess masterminds. We look forward to seeing which House will outwit the rest on the board.
What an amazing term of House events—it’s been inspiring to see the enthusiasm, talent, and spirit of our students on full display.

French teacher Ms Foster organised Ken's Crepes at the school once again, a highlight for students studying French, as well as most high school students - the queue was long! The crepes are delicious, as you can see from the photos. Part of learning a language is indulging in its culinary delights.
6 Haileybury Rendall School students who study French at the school performed on Saturday night in front of a packed audience, as well as the Ambassador of France and other dignitaries, for the Alliance Francaise 40th Birthday celebrations. French students from years 7,8, and 9 performed in fluent French with great success.
