Sony Foundation Camp Fun

Volunteering senior students along with the camp coordinator, Lisa Cadd, recently participated in the Haileybury Rendall School Sony Foundation Children’s Holiday Camp. This camp provides families the rare opportunity for some much needed respite while knowing that their precious children were being well cared for.

Children from around Darwin are given the opportunity to attend the three-day camp held at one of the School's boarding houses. On the first day, the children attend an excursion to Lake Leanyer Recreation Park and enjoyed a BBQ picnic lunch.

This year’s theme was super heroes, so art and craft consisted of making masks, decorating super hero capes and many other super activities. Then it was time for some exciting science experiments including exploding water rockets!

After dinner and a big day of activities, everyone got comfortable in their bean bags to watch The Incredibles while the smell of freshly made popcorn filled the room.

On Saturday, both young and old had lots of fun at the indoor playground, Play Shack. Our senior students had loads of fun navigating through the equipment and playing games like hide and seek with the children.

The weekend came to an end so quickly, finishing on Sunday with the Family Farewell Lunch. The families were so excited to be reunited with their children and it was so evident to them that their children really had a wonderful time.
