Lake Argyle Expedition
The Haileybury Rendall community extends its congratulations to our Year 10 students who recently completed the pinnacle trip of the Experiential Learning Program. The eight-day trip saw students travel to stunning Lake Argyle, located in Western Australia’s East Kimberly region.
The journey commenced with an epic interstate bus trip, with students splitting into small groups to embark on their water expedition. The groups used kayaks and canoes to explore the raw beauty of the remote and spectacular Lake Argyle.
Students spent a total of six days adventuring on the water, carrying equipment from campsite to campsite as they navigated through Australia’s second largest dam. During this time the students caught hundreds of fish, performed many adrenaline-pumping rock jumps, and viewed many breathtaking sunsets.
The accompanying staff members reported an overwhelmingly positive response from the students. The capability these individuals showed in not only being able to care for themselves but also their group members in such an unforgiving and isolated environment is a remarkable testament to the character and values of each student.
This trip marks the end of the Experiential Learning Program for these students and we wish them all the best on their future adventurous endeavours!
